Amid a significant reshuffle in Bangladesh’s administrative sector, the Rural Electrification Board (REB), Power Development Board (PDB), and Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) are receiving new leadership. Maj Gen SM Zia-ul-Azim has been appointed as the new chairman of the Bangladesh REB, as announced by the Ministry of Public Administration. Rezaul Karim, a current member of the PDB, has been designated as the incoming chairman of the board, set to assume his duties in September. This position is currently held by Power Division Engineer Mahbubur Rahman. Additionally, Jalal Ahmed has been appointed as the new chairman of BERC, succeeding Nurul Amin, who resigned last week following protests by other commission officials. Jalal Ahmed previously served as the chairman of Petrobangla from 2007 to 2009.
