In Dhaka’s retail markets, the price of raw chillies has risen to Tk 260-280 per kg, up from Tk 200 per kg two days ago, due to reduced supply. Brinjal prices have also increased by Tk 10-15 per kg, now selling at Tk 110-130 per kg, with some lower-quality options available at Tk 10-20 less. Other vegetables and fish-chicken prices remain stable, with local onions at Tk 100-110 per kg, potatoes at Tk 55, garlic at Tk 200-220, and ginger at Tk 260-280. Broiler chicken costs Tk 170 per kg, golden chicken Tk 250-260, and brown farm chicken eggs Tk 150-155 per dozen. In Chittagong, the price of raw chillies has surged to Tk 1,000 per kg due to supply disruptions from flooding. Despite the floods affecting 11 districts, traders assure that vegetable prices in Dhaka are unlikely to be impacted significantly. Fish prices remain unchanged, with fish selling at Tk 300-330 per kg, tilapia at Tk 200-220, and pangash at Tk 200. However, there is concern that beef prices may increase soon due to cattle deaths from the floods.
