Recent floods in Mirsrai, Chittagong, have severely impacted the poultry industry, causing losses estimated at about 3 crore rupees. The floods damaged poultry farms in Kerhat, Hinguli, Zorarganj, Saherkhali, Ichakhali, Osmanpur, and Dhum Unions, resulting in the death of millions of chickens across 25 confirmed farms. Additionally, 70 cows were swept away by floodwaters, and two cows and three goats perished in landslides. Affected poultry farms include nine with a total of 46,000 chickens, including 4,000 broilers in Bechuni Pole, 5,000 broilers in Alokdia, and nearly 20,000 chickens in Samiti Bazar. The total reported damage is approximately TK 3 crore, with information on additional farms still to be confirmed as floodwaters recede. The upazila livestock office is continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.
