The defunct e-commerce platform ‘Sirajganj Shop’ still owes over Tk 8 crore to more than 2,600 customers, with a total debt of approximately Tk 11.73 crore. Despite being closed since August 31, 2021, customers are still struggling to recover their funds. The platform, which had around 6 lakh registered users when it ceased operations, owes this money due to payments stuck in the payment gateway. While the founder claims the release of these funds is necessary to settle the debts, some customers have yet to receive refunds for orders placed up to Tk 53,000. Complaints to the National Consumer Protection Directorate are under review, and the founder reports partial repayments to some customers from personal sources. An investigation is ongoing, with new administrators working to resolve the issue.
