The government approved the procurement of 25,000 tons of rock phosphate and 40,000 tons of MOP fertilizer to address increasing national demand. The approvals were granted during the third meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. The rock phosphate, intended for TSPCL, was approved following a Ministry of Industries proposal, while the MOP fertilizer will be procured from Canadian Commercial Corporation for BADC, based on a Ministry of Agriculture proposal. Dr. Ahmed also noted that while proposals related to power and energy are not hindered, they are being expedited through the Economic Affairs and Purchase Committees despite existing constraints. For specific queries on power and energy, he advised consulting the relevant adviser.
