Huawei and Walton Ink Deal for Lithium Battery Production

Industry: Mobile, Telecom & Mobile
Company: Huawei Technologies Co., Walton Group
Company Intelligence Tag: Partnership Insights

Huawei and Walton have signed a contract to produce lithium batteries in Bangladesh for telecom Base Transceiver Stations (BTS). Walton will manufacture the batteries, launching them in approximately seven months with an 80,000-piece annual capacity. Huawei will provide technical support, design expertise, and raw materials. This shift from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries aims to address environmental and efficiency issues. Lithium-ion batteries are nearly 100% efficient, have longer lifespans, and are more eco-friendly compared to lead-acid batteries, which produce 50% more CO2 and require more maintenance. The new intelligent lithium batteries will enhance operational efficiency and help Bangladesh meet global carbon emission reduction targets. The partnership is expected to boost investment, create jobs, and expand exports in Bangladesh’s new energy sector.
