The government will import 60,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertiliser from Saudi Arabia and Qatar to ensure adequate supply for the upcoming Boro season. The Adviser Council Committee on Government Purchase approved the proposals, with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed noting that this measure aims to prevent any fertiliser shortages. The imports will consist of 30,000 tonnes from Saudi Arabia and 30,000 tonnes from Qatar, each at a cost of Tk118.01 crore and $327.83 per tonne.
