The World Bank will provide Tk 250 million to the health ministry to support the medical needs of critically injured individuals from the July-August student protests. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is working with hospitals to identify necessary medical equipment and treatment facilities, using the funds to purchase supplies instead of direct cash assistance.
A Chinese medical team is currently assessing the health conditions of the injured in specialized hospitals in Dhaka and will recommend further treatment options, including possible overseas care for severe cases. The ministry is also seeking additional medical support, with the US-based Seba Foundation planning to send a team to assist with eye injury treatments. The government has already facilitated the treatment of some seriously injured individuals abroad and has published a draft list of 708 fatalities from the protests, while a comprehensive list of injured individuals is still being compiled.Â
