AkijBashir Group has launched a glass production plant in Madhabpur, Habiganj, to meet the rising demand for both basic and high-quality glass in Bangladesh’s construction sector. The company aims to produce highly transparent, defect-free glass for uses ranging from traditional windows to advanced infrastructure projects like malls and hospitals. Their products, launched in September, boast superior quality with a 700 ppm rating. The project, which cost Tk 2,000 crore due to pandemic delays and currency depreciation, employs over 1,000 people. The company is also committed to sustainability, with 71% of its electricity coming from renewable sources, aiming for 100%. As Bangladesh consumes about 3.5 lakh tonnes of glass annually, the company is planning to enter international markets once domestic demand is met.
