Low-income individuals and farmers in Sunamganj district have received Taka 1 crore in loans through the Bangladesh Bank’s Open Loan Programme. Organized by BRAC Bank at Shahid Jogot Jyoti Library, the event saw participation from 26 banks in the district. The programme aims to promote financial inclusion by offering spot loans to marginalized communities, including landless farmers and micro-business owners. Loans range from Taka 50,000 to Taka 5 lakh, accessible to no-frill account holders. The initiative is supported by a total refinancing facility of Taka 750 crore from Bangladesh Bank.
