The interim government has dismissed Abul Hashem as chairman of BASIC Bank, in line with the Bank Company Act. Hashem, who is also the vice chancellor of Anwar Khan Modern University, had initially been appointed as chairman in September 2020 and was reappointed for a second term last November. The government has also recently removed the managing directors and CEOs of five other state-run banks.
