Starting December 1, China will grant Bangladesh 100% duty-free market access, aligning with President Xi Jinping’s recent pledge for least developed countries. This expansion follows the previous inclusion of 98% of Bangladeshi products in 2022 and 97% in 2020. Chinese investors, such as Cheng Ma of Dhaka-Taka (Beijing) Trading, plan to capitalize on the new access, with Ma aiming to modernize shrimp farming in Bangladesh. His initiatives include introducing advanced technology and establishing solar-powered shrimp farming, targeting China’s $2 billion black tiger shrimp market.
