At a seminar on 19 October, speakers highlighted the importance of renewable energy in addressing environmental degradation caused by climate change. Organized by the Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS) and Pratichhabi, the event focused on the harmful emissions from fossil fuels. Keynote speaker Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder emphasized that achieving a 90% reduction in global carbon emissions by 2050 requires a shift to renewable energy. Other speakers, including Dr. Adil Mohammad Khan and Sharif Jamil, stressed the need for public awareness and actionable plans to protect Bangladesh’s environment, particularly its coastal areas. Professor SM Mustafa Al Mamun called for collective action to mitigate environmental destruction.
