Over the past three months, the prices of over 50 medicines in Bangladesh have increased by an average of 29%. Some medicines saw price hikes of up to 110%, including Anaflex Max tablets. Prices of essential medicines for surgeries, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and skin conditions have risen by 50% or more. Prices for 11 medicines increased by 30-50%, and 22 saw a 10-30% rise. Pharmaceutical companies like SQUARE, ACI, and Aristopharma have raised prices. The industry attributes the increases to rising energy costs, inflation, and a shortage of raw materials. Consumers are struggling with higher expenses, and experts warn this could strain the healthcare sector.
