The Bangladesh Textile Garment Workers Federation (BTGWF) presented an 8-point demand at a roundtable discussion on 23 November, titled “Interim Government: Ongoing Worker Unrest, Worker Rights, and What We Need to Do.” The demands include establishing a ration card system to provide essential goods like rice, lentils, and oil at affordable prices for garment workers, as well as a constitutional amendment to ensure food security for all workers. Other demands include allowing trade unions in all garment factories, including EPZs, and removing obstacles to union registration. The BTGWF also called for the creation of an “Emergency Health and Safety” fund, a “universal welfare fund,” and dedicated healthcare for workers, along with compensation for victims of past factory tragedies like Tazreen Fashion and Rana Plaza.
