Mirza Azhar Ahmad has recently been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bank Asia PLC, according to an announcement made on November 30. With over two decades of experience in the banking sector, he brings expertise in diverse areas such as branch and card operations, centralized clearing, cash management, ATM services, retail loan administration, and treasury back-office functions. His academic background includes a distinguished graduation and post-graduation in International Relations from the University of Dhaka.
Ahmad began his career with Standard Chartered Bank in 1999, where he worked until 2022. Following that, he joined ONE Bank PLC in February 2022 as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Operations. His extensive operational expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in driving innovation and enhancing operational efficiency at Bank Asia.
