The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has instructed banks to unfreeze the accounts of United Commercial Bank (UCB) Chairman and Ananta Group Managing Director Sharif Zahir, his mother Qamrun Nahar Zahir, and his brother Asif Zahir. Qamrun Nahar is the chairperson, and Asif is the deputy managing director of Ananta Group, a leading garment exporter. This decision, made by the NBR’s Central Intelligence Cell (CIC), was implemented on Thursday, just four days after blocking withdrawals and transfers from their accounts. However, restrictions remain on the access to lockers held by Sharif and his family members.
