Biman Bangladesh Airlines reported a net profit of Tk 2.82 billion for FY 2023-24, with total revenue of Tk 105.75 billion. The announcement followed Biman’s Annual General Meeting, chaired by Board Chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury. Representatives from various government ministries attended. Despite exchange rate fluctuations and tax expenses impacting net profit, the airline recorded an operational profit of Tk 15.56 billion, a 9.5% increase from the previous year. This marks the fourth consecutive profitable year post-COVID-19 and the eighth in the last decade. In FY 2023-24, Biman transported 3.36 million passengers across 30 destinations and handled 350,222 tonnes of cargo, with significant increases in both areas. The airline, which has not received government subsidies in 53 years, funded the purchase of 13 new aircraft and repaid Tk 125.74 million in loans and interest by November 2024.
