Govt Approves Petrobangla’s Purchase of One LNG Cargo

The government has approved several proposals for procuring Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and fertiliser. At a meeting chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase approved Petrobangla’s purchase of one LNG cargo from M/S POSCO International Corporation, Korea, for Tk 6.93 billion, costing $14.69 per MMBtu. The committee also approved the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) to buy 30,000 tonnes of MOP fertiliser from Prodintorg, Russia, for Tk 1.043 billion ($489.75 per tonne), and 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser from OCP Nutricrops SA, Morocco, for Tk 2.805 billion ($584.50 per tonne). Additionally, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) was approved to buy 30,000 tonnes of bulk granular urea fertiliser from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Limited (KAFCO) for Tk 1.235 billion ($343.25 per tonne) and from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia, for Tk 1.258 billion ($349.67 per tonne).
