The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation into allegations of irregularities involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and four family members over the allocation of six plots in Purbachal New Town’s diplomatic zone. The family members under scrutiny include Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and Rehana’s children Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby and Azmina Siddiq.
The plots, totaling 60 kathas, were reportedly allocated using discretionary powers, raising concerns about corruption. The ACC’s decision follows media reports highlighting these allegations.
In a separate inquiry, the ACC is investigating claims of laundering $300 million abroad by Sheikh Hasina and her son, along with a broader probe into Tk 800 billion in alleged corruption involving the family in various projects. The ACC has formed a five-member team to address these claims.
