The Bangladesh government approved proposals to procure one cargo of LNG and 50,000 tonnes of non-Basmati boiled rice during the 2nd meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Purchase. Petrobangla will purchase LNG from M/S Excelerate Energy, LP, USA, at Tk752.5 crore, with LNG costing $15.69 per MMBtu. The Ministry of Food will procure rice from M/S Bagadiya Brothers Private Ltd, India, at Tk275.3 crore, with rice costing $458.84 per tonne. The meeting, chaired by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, also approved proposals from the Secondary and Higher Education Division and the Ministry of Shipping. This procurement aims to meet the growing demand for energy and food in the country.
