Ha-Meem Group has installed a 4.4MWp rooftop solar power plant, raising its total renewable capacity to 12.2MWp. The system, costing Tk 54 crore, includes a Tk 7 crore grant from a garment sector safety and environmental program. By June 2026, the company plans to add 15MWp, bringing total capacity to 27.2MWp, though this will only cut carbon emissions by 6%. To achieve net-zero by 2050, Ha-Meem Group estimates needing an additional 300MWp, planned for its tea garden in Moulvibazar. The project, installed by FloSolar Solutions with inverters from Powernsun, ensures four hours of daily power for garment and washing factories. Bangladesh’s largest rooftop solar plant, generating 40MWp, is at Youngone Corporation’s facility in Chattogram. Increased renewable energy adoption is driven by foreign buyers’ sustainability demands, with more factories exploring similar solutions. The solar system will reduce costs, generate clean energy, and cut emissions.
