Japan has committed $1.8 million in food aid for Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char, benefiting over 191,000 people. The aid, provided through the World Food Program (WFP), will support malnutrition prevention, income-generating activities, and the rehabilitation of e-voucher outlets. Despite lacking livelihood opportunities, the Rohingya community remains heavily dependent on humanitarian aid for survival. This contribution marks Japan’s continued support for the Rohingya, who face ongoing challenges from natural disasters and insecurity. Since the 2017 Rohingya influx, Japan has donated over $230 million in aid to Bangladesh through WFP, UN agencies, and NGOs. Japanese officials emphasized the importance of continued support, especially for women and children, to improve living conditions and ensure stability in the region.
