The expansion of women-led SMEs is strengthening Bangladesh’s poultry industry by boosting employment, production, and market competitiveness. On International Women’s Day 2025, the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) and the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) highlighted the need to support women entrepreneurs and ensure adequate nutrition for their sustained contributions. Women comprise 40% of the poultry sector workforce but face challenges in credit access, resources, and training. BPICC President Shamsul Arefin Khaled emphasized the need for financial resources, skills training, and policy support, while BPICC Secretary ATM Mostafa Kamal acknowledged government efforts but called for increased support. The growth of women-led poultry businesses is contributing to affordable protein production. Nutritionist Israt Jahan stressed the importance of proper protein intake for women balancing multiple roles. BPICC reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs through better recognition and resources.
