The government has approved separate proposals to procure one cargo of LNG and 72,897 SPC poles to meet energy demands and strengthen Bangladesh’s power distribution system. The approvals were made during the 11th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. Petrobangla will procure one cargo of LNG from M/S Excelerate Energy, LP, USA, through the spot market at Tk 664.40 crore, with a per MMBtu cost of $14.30. To enhance the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) distribution system, the government will procure 72,897 SPC poles under the “BREB Power Distribution System Modernization and Capacity Enhancement (Khulna Division) Project,” including 24,300 poles from Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited at Tk 76.68 crore, 24,300 poles from Charka SPC Poles Ltd JV with DADA Engineering Ltd, TSCO Power Ltd, and Pasha Poles Ltd at Tk 76.65 crore, and 24,297 poles from Poltes and Concrete Ltd JV with Contech Construction Ltd, Royel Green Products Ltd, and Sheltech Technology at Tk 76.61 crore. Additionally, under a proposal from the Ministry of Shipping, the government will undertake works and procure commodities for the Mongla Port expansion project at Tk 4,046.48 crore through the Direct Procurement Method (DPM). For the Local Government Division, a consultancy contract worth Tk 44.41 crore has been awarded to Dohwa-DEVCON-IWM JV for detailed engineering design of water supply and sanitation projects in Cumilla, Ishwardi, and Khagrachhari.
