In a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s maritime sector, the YM Endeavor, a Hong Kong-flagged vessel, has arrived at Matarbari deep sea port with 65,250 metric tonnes of coal. This marks the second large ship to anchor at any Bangladeshi port, following the recent success of the Panama-flagged vessel ‘Auso Maro’. The arrival of these ships highlights Bangladesh’s growing reputation in the maritime world and sets the stage for increased coal imports. Unloading of the coal from the YM Endeavor commenced on May 20 after the ship was skillfully guided to the jetty by a pilotage team from Chittagong Port. With the regular influx of large ships to Matarbari, the port’s capacity and prominence are set to further expand, fostering economic growth and strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global maritime industry.
