BEZA to construct two housing projects

Industry: Housing, Real Estate

The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) is set to construct two housing projects within the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar, aiming to accommodate approximately 400,000 industrial enclave workers. These low-cost housing projects will cover 363.55 acres of land in Saherkhali Union and the Domkhali area of Korerhat Union in Mirsharai upazila. Strategically located near the industrial areas, the projects will significantly reduce workers’ commute time, enhancing their convenience.

The comprehensive construction plan ensures access to essential amenities such as gas, electricity, water, healthcare, educational institutions, community centers, playgrounds, and markets. The implementation of these housing projects will prevent the scattering of workers in different areas, mitigating environmental and demographic challenges in the upazila. Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar, spanning around 30,000 acres in Mirsharai, Sitakunda, and Feni upazilas, aims to employ approximately 1.5 million people once fully operational. Beza plans to allocate more land for housing projects to accommodate the workforce in the industrial city.
