The electricity supply from Indian Adani Group’s Godda 1600MW Thermal Power Plant to Bangladesh was disrupted due to a transmission line fault, worsening the country’s ongoing power crisis. Bangladesh had been relying on increased power imports from the plant to bridge the widening demand-supply gap caused by the closure of the Payra power plant due to fuel shortages. The transmission line damage occurred during a tornado but was repaired within two hours, according to the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh. The disruption led to a drop in power supply from the plant to the national grid, exacerbating the already strained electricity situation. This development comes at a time when Bangladesh is grappling with record load shedding and struggling to meet its growing energy demands.
