The Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC) has launched Bangladesh’s first-ever smart grid project, expected to bring significant improvements to the quality of electricity service for approximately 1,141,000 individuals. Experts highlighted the project’s environmental benefits at a seminar titled “Towards Power Distribution Revolution Smart Grid Technologies and Its Applications.” They emphasized that the smart grid initiative will combat climate change by preventing an estimated 104,000 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions annually.
The seminar, organized by DPDC, aimed to spread knowledge and skills related to smart grid technology and empower the power sector. The project, known as CSCSG (Construction and Augmentation of Substation Installation of Capacitor Bank and Introduction of Smart Grid in Power System under DPDC Areas), is co-funded by the European Union and AFD.
