To meet the demand for sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha, Dhaka South and North City Corporations have decided to set up 16 temporary cattle markets. This move aims to provide convenience to city dwellers like Ferdous Mannan, who prefer buying animals from markets near their homes. Eight markets will be established in each city corporation, and additional animals will be available at their permanent cattle markets. The lease agreements for these temporary markets are expected to be finalized soon, with a lease period of five days. Stringent health and safety regulations will be implemented to ensure a safe environment amidst the ongoing pandemic. Discussions are also underway regarding the possibility of digital markets. The city corporations are committed to ensuring proper sales and preparations in all markets, catering to the religious significance of Eid-ul-Azha for the Muslim community.
