Farmers in the Rangpur agriculture region anticipate a plentiful production of Haribhanga mango, a delicious local variety. The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) officials in Rangpur predict a bumper output this season, attributing it to favorable weather conditions during flowering and fruit formation stages. Cultivation of Haribhanga mango spans over 1,905 hectares of land out of the total 3,535 hectares devoted to mango cultivation in the district. The DAE expects a harvest of around 35,000 tonnes worth approximately Taka 250 crore. The commercial cultivation of Haribhanga mango is steadily expanding, bringing self-reliance to numerous farmers in Rangpur and neighboring areas. This sought-after mango variety is predominantly cultivated in various villages across Rangpur and surrounding districts. The high demand for Haribhanga mango in local markets contributes to its increasing cultivation on a commercial scale.
