Bangladesh’s electrical and electronics goods exports have experienced remarkable growth, increasing by 48% during July-May of the current financial year. The surge is attributed to improved product quality and government support, resulting in a revenue of $115.30 million. This figure surpasses both the $105 million export target set for FY23 and the previous year’s actual receipts of $100.10 million. Despite the global economic slowdown and higher inflation affecting overall export earnings, Bangladesh’s electrical and electronics segment achieved a 7.11% year-on-year growth. The country exports a range of electronic home appliances, including refrigerators, air-conditioners, and televisions, as well as electrical goods like power transformers, fans, cables, and switches. This impressive performance signifies Bangladesh’s technological advancement, with local companies like Energypac Engineering and Walton Hi-Tech Industries playing a significant role in exporting quality products at competitive prices. The battery sector has also witnessed recovery and increased shipments, aided by the government’s 15% cash incentive. However, challenges remain, such as delays in product supply due to limited access to US dollars for importing raw materials.
