State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources revealed that the country’s current gas reserves, with a daily production rate of 2290mmcf, are sufficient for the next 10 years. To address the deficit, the government is importing LNG, and the current gas supply stands at 3000mmcf per day. The total gas reserves in Bangladesh amount to 40.43 trillion cubic meters, of which 28.76 trillion cubic meters are extractable. The state minister also highlighted the government’s aim to increase the share of clean energy in total power generation to 40% by 2041. Bangladesh is exploring the possibility of generating power through a combination of hydrogen and natural gas, aligning with global efforts in this area. The government is in the process of formulating an integrated power and energy master plan, prioritizing the generation of clean energy.
