CARE Bangladesh, in collaboration with Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), is launching Girls-led Programming to combat child marriage and empower girls in Bangladesh. The initiative was kickstarted with the event “Girls Leading Change,” which brought together CBOs from six districts in a collaborative effort.

Under Girls-led Programming, 30 CBOs will implement CARE’s Learning Community on the Move (LCOM) model, starting with mentorship training for girls and enabling them to voice their choices and advocate for their rights.

This partnership between CARE and CBOs marks a significant step towards ending child marriage and promoting healthier, safer, and more empowered lives for girls. The initiative, funded by The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is part of the Accelerating Action to End Child Marriage (AAECM) project.

The event highlighted the crucial role of CBOs in promoting girls’ rights and emphasized the importance of a “locally-led, globally-connected” approach. Stakeholders from various organizations stressed the need for collective efforts, engagement of CBOs, and inclusion of both girls and boys in this transformative movement.
