Bangladesh’s Lal Teer has achieved a significant milestone as its MNT Seed Testing Laboratory receives accreditation from the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA). It becomes the country’s first lab to attain this recognition. Lal Teer aims to enhance seed quality and expand exports with this accreditation. The Chairman of Lal Teer expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the benefits for local farmers and increased export opportunities.
The eight-year effort of Lal Teer’s MNT Lab research team has paid off, leading to this prestigious accreditation. The company currently supplies 12,000 tonnes of seeds annually, primarily vegetables. The Managing Director anticipates further export growth due to the ISTA accreditation. Lal Teer has also made significant strides in developing crop varieties, including hybrids.
