A second shipment of coal, weighing 36,570 tonnes, has arrived at Payra port in Patuakhali, Bangladesh, to address the fuel shortage at the Payra Thermal Power Plant. The MV Pavo Brave, a Panama-flagged ship, arrived from Balikpapan port in Indonesia and is currently unloading coal through lighter vessels. Approximately 5,000 tonnes of coal will be unloaded at the port, with the remainder being delivered to the Payra Thermal Power Plant jetty. This shipment follows a previous delivery of 41,300 tonnes of coal by the MV Athena on June 23. To alleviate the fuel crisis, a total of 730,000 tonnes of coal is expected to arrive on 15 ships, and letters of credit have been opened to import an additional 700,000 tonnes of coal. These efforts aim to resume power generation at the plant and ensure a stable energy supply.
