Exports of ceramic products from Bangladesh have experienced a positive growth of 4.91% in the fiscal year 2022-23 compared to the previous year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau. The country exported ceramic products worth $43.39 million in FY23, showcasing an upward trend over the past years. The demand for Bangladeshi ceramic tableware, pottery, tiles, sanitary ware, and other products has increased both domestically and internationally.
Bangladesh now exports ceramic goods to over 50 countries, with major markets including the UK, US, Italy, Spain, and Australia. Investments in the ceramic sector have also been significant, with a total of Tk 15,356.50 crore invested by 71 companies in the fiscal year 2021-22. The industry’s potential for growth is driven by factors such as urbanization, consumer purchasing power, and changing lifestyles. Challenges for the sector include ensuring a smooth supply of gas and electricity, skilled manpower, and industry-friendly tax measures. Proper policy support is crucial for sustaining the growth of the ceramic sector in Bangladesh.
