BD Plans to Generate 9,930 MW of Renewable Energy

During a meeting with the outgoing Ambassador of Denmark, State Minister shared that Bangladesh has projects underway to generate 9,930 MW of electricity from renewable energy sources. He also mentioned Bangladesh’s intention to import renewable electricity from neighboring countries. The state minister emphasized the country’s focus on renewable energy and highlighted that while 1,194 MW of electricity is currently generated from renewable sources, only 825.23 MW is supplied to the national grid. The Danish ambassador expressed interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to produce 500 MW of electricity from offshore wind, aiming to harness the blue economy.

Qatar To Renew LNG MoU With Bangladesh For Expanded Supply

Qatar has agreed to renew a previously expired MoU with Bangladesh for liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and advance discussions on a land-based LNG terminal in Cox’s Bazar. Under the existing SPA signed in 2017, Bangladesh imports 1.5–2.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG for 15 years, with a second SPA signed in June 2023 for an additional 1.5 MTPA starting in January 2026.

Gas Dues Drop To 240 Million By April FY 2025
