Bangladesh has received the second shipment of fuel from India through the Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline. The latest delivery consisted of 28 lakh liters of diesel fuel from Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) in Assam, supplied to the Parbatipur depot in Dinajpur. More fuel shipments are scheduled within the month. However, the pipeline’s fuel delivery remains slow due to incomplete storage tanks. Previously, Bangladesh had to transport fuel from the Chattogram Port to the northern region via the Mongla Port and railway, causing delays and uncertainties during the irrigation period for consumers in the 16 northern districts. The cross-border pipeline is expected to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to the northern districts, delivering one million tonnes of fuel annually.
