The government plans to bring unutilized gas from Bhola to Dhaka and replace underground gas pipelines with an investment of Tk 12,000 crore. After achieving full electricity coverage, the focus is on providing uninterrupted and affordable electricity. Long-term contracts with international partners aim to ensure sufficient gas supply for industries from January 2026. Experts stress the importance of enhancing local gas exploration to address the current crisis effectively. However, they highlight the slow progress in gas exploration initiatives and call for immediate action in this regard. The seminar discussed the need to expedite gas exploration across the country and identify gaps in the process.
