Bangladesh has made significant progress in mango exports this season ( 2023), shipping 2,700 tons to 34 countries, a notable increase of 1000 tons compared to the previous year’s exports of 1,757 tons to 28 countries. The Ministry of Agriculture acknowledges the high global demand for mangoes but cites non-compliance with international standards, including good agricultural practices, as a hindrance to further export growth. To address this, the ministry is implementing a project to boost the production of exportable mangoes. The top destinations for mango exports include the United Kingdom, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Despite producing around 25 lakh tons of mangoes annually, the export volume remains relatively low. The ministry aims to enhance exports and capitalize on the lucrative global market for mangoes.
