The Indian government is considering supplying oil to Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Nepal using the POL storage unit in Assam’s Cachar district, according to Indian Union State Minister. The greenfield POL unit at Moinarbond could facilitate this supply, aided by aligned railway tracks for bulk fuel transportation. Union State Minister visited the Indian Oil Corporation unit and discussed its significance for Assam and northeast development. Although the Rs 502-crore project was inaugurated in 2022, the Union State Minister learned about sluggish progress in pipeline gas delivery projects in Silchar. To expedite the work, he plans to meet the MD of East Indian Gas Agency Ltd, responsible for the Silchar pipeline project.
