The Agriculture Ministry has announced a second-phase incentive program aimed at boosting summer onion production. Around 18,000 farmers are set to receive a total of Tk16.20 crore (approximately $1.9 million) in support. Each farmer will receive free supplies, including 1 kg of Nabi (Late) variety onion seeds, 20 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 20 kg of MoP fertilizer. Additionally, they will be granted Tk2,000 in cash for land preparation or labor costs. The Nabi variety onions will be cultivated from November to December, hitting the local market in January and February. This initiative, funded from the ministry’s regular budget, follows a previous allocation of Tk16 crore to 18,000 farmers in the first phase to enhance national onion production.
