The government is set to procure 40 lakh liters of rice bran oil and 6,000 tonnes of lentils, intending to provide subsidized provisions to low-income individuals through the state-operated Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). This decision was sanctioned during a virtual meeting led by the Finance Minister and the cabinet committee on public purchase. The rice bran oil, costing Tk 64.6 crore, will be sourced from Majumdar Bran Oil Mills Ltd, while the lentils, amounting to Tk 57.05 crore, will be obtained from Nabil Nabal Naba Foods Ltd. Furthermore, the committee authorized the purchase of 30,000 tonnes of granular urea fertilizer from Qatar’s Muntajat (valued at Tk 131.12 crore) and another 30,000 tonnes from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Ltd (priced at Tk 129.18 crore).
