Summit Alliance Port Limited (SAPL) has partnered with Pristine Logistics, a major integrated rail terminal operator in India, to establish a joint venture aimed at enhancing rail logistics in Bangladesh. The collaboration will focus on the development of rail-linked inland container depots, container freight stations, and multimodal logistics parks at strategic locations in Bangladesh.

The expansion of Bangladesh’s rail network, combined with the private sector’s development of rail-based cargo hubs, is expected to offer more cost-effective logistics solutions. This initiative is particularly beneficial for importers of food commodities and industrial raw materials from India, as well as Bangladeshi garment exporters.

SAPL, which handles a significant portion of the country’s containerized exports and imports, aims to improve the existing rail logistics infrastructure in Bangladesh. The joint venture will provide long-haul rail services from Indian locations to Bangladesh’s borders and interiors, along with various logistics services and multi-modal transport options for efficient distribution.
