Government has taken decisive steps by fixing the prices of essential commodities. Notably, the price of potatoes has been set at Tk35-Tk36 per kilogram, a significant reduction from the current market rate of approximately Tk50 per kg. Furthermore, at the cold storage level, potatoes are now priced at Tk27 per kg. To ensure compliance with these rates, the government has the authority to auction off any unsold potatoes found in cold storage facilities.
Additionally, in response to recent market fluctuations, the price of eggs has been set at Tk12 per piece at the retail level. The government has also made provisions for egg imports should market prices fail to align with the newly established rate. Commerce ministry officials will closely monitor the egg market for the next few days, and if prices remain at Tk12 per piece, import restrictions may be reconsidered. Furthermore, the retail price of bottled soybean oil has been adjusted to Tk169 per liter, down from Tk174 per kg, and onion prices have been fixed at Tk64-Tk65 per kg.
