Power generation at the Rampal thermal power plant in Bagerhat, Bangladesh, has once again halted due to a technical issue. The production stopped on 15 August 2023. This is the seventh shutdown of the power plant in the eight months since its commissioning on December 17th of the previous year. The previous closure occurred on July 16th due to turbine problems, with production resuming on July 20th after repairs. The repeated technical glitches raise concerns about the plant’s reliability and operational stability. The Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), which operates the Rampal power plant, has not provided comments on the recent shutdown.
