The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) discussed the potential for Nepal to become a source of clean energy for Bangladesh during a meeting with a Nepalese delegation. The FBCCI emphasized that the energy sector holds significant cooperation potential between the two countries, given Bangladesh’s increasing energy demand to achieve its Vision 2041 goals. They also referred to a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to import 500 MW of electricity from Nepal, highlighting its importance in shifting to renewable energy and ensuring international trade compliance. The FBCCI discussed various sectors for collaboration, including RMG, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, ICT, and more. The Nepalese delegation presented opportunities in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, and hydroelectricity, encouraging Bangladeshi businesses to invest in these areas.
