The price of broiler chickens has surged by 10 taka per kilogram, reaching 190 taka per kilogram. This increase in poultry prices was observed at the Taltala and Shewarabazar markets in the capital city. Last week, broiler chickens were sold at 180 taka per kilogram. Traders attribute the price hike to wholesale market increases, resulting in retailers passing on the higher costs to consumers.
Other meat prices, such as beef and goat meat, have remained steady, with beef selling for 750 to 800 taka per kilogram and goat meat priced at 1,050 to 1,100 taka per kilogram. Vegetable prices have remained unchanged, with eggplant at 80 to 120 taka, bitter gourd at 60 to 80 taka, pumpkin at 40 to 60 taka, and various other vegetables maintaining their prices.
In the fish market, prices have fluctuated, with Singh fish selling for 300 to 600 taka per kilogram, rohu fish at 350 to 500 taka per kilogram, and various other fish types at different rates, including prawns at 800 to 1,000 taka per kilogram.
