The United States is allocating more than $116 million in additional humanitarian aid to assist vulnerable populations in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and the surrounding region. Over $74 million of this funding is designated for supporting Rohingya refugees and their host communities. Since the Rohingya crisis began in August 2017, the United States has provided more than $2.2 billion in humanitarian assistance.
This aid will help nearly one million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, including survivors of genocide and ethnic cleansing, as well as 540,000 members of Bangladeshi communities that have been hosting Rohingya refugees. The assistance covers various essential needs, including safe drinking water, healthcare, protection, education, shelter, and psychosocial support. The United States acknowledges the generosity of Bangladesh and other countries hosting Rohingya refugees and calls on other donors to contribute to the humanitarian response and work toward lasting solutions for the refugee crisis.
